Labor Day Weekend & Swimming

Jackson loves to swim! We have 2 pools in our neighborhood that he splashed around in all summer. Now that summer is ending, he and I are taking swimming lessons every Wednesday night at an indoor pool. Here are some pics at our last day at the neighborhood pool.

Jackson's First Trip to the Midwest

This past weekend Jackson took his first trip to the Midwest. What a trooper he is...3 states in 3 days. We landed at Midway on Friday morning about 9 am (after having left our house for the airport at 3:45 am). From Midway we went straight to Battle Creek, MI to visit Scott's grandmother who is 93 years old. Jackson met his great grandmother, his great grandmother's twin sister, his great Aunt Marty, his great Uncle Sam, his third cousin Aurora, and his second cousin Chris. So much fun getting to catch up with everyone and watch the little ones play together.

From Battle Creek we headed to Valparaiso, Indiana. We got stayed with Bill and Heather (thank you guys for letting us take over your house...and for getting us baby gear). Saturday, Jackson and I went to our first popcorn festival....the 31st one!!! Later that day we went to Tom Phillip's wedding and were so excited to find out that he and his wife are having a boy. Jackson will have a new friend coming soon! And Saturday night we got to spend catching up with all of our Valpo friends.

Sunday we had to say goodbye to everyone, but before we did, there were a few hot spots hit in Valpo. First off, let me just tell you, that I have a new favorite coffee shop. Something like Blackberry on the main square in Valpo. Best ice tea!!! I will be stopping there every time we are in town. We also did a drive by of the old Turner house which the new family was keeping up great. And then before we said goodbye, team Turner hit Walmart to stock up on Cubs and Bears gear for both Jackson and Scott.

After a trip to Lake Michigan for Jackson to play in the sand, we head to Chicago for the night. After a yummy dinner at Bandera on Michigan Avenue, and some great people watching, we headed back to the hotel for Scott to watch the Bears (not play so well).

Jackson's First Rockies Game

The child is spoiled. At 4 months Jackson was sitting 10 rows up behind home plate watching the Rockies and the Padres.

Jackson's Smile

I know I am a little biased, but I think my baby has the best smile. Not only that, but he is always happy. I don't know where he came from because Scott and I are just not that happy. Jackson laughs and smiles at everything. We were in a bind the other night with a babysitter, Scott was working, and I was throwing a bachelorette party. Jackson had to come to the party with me for about 45 minutes. You should have seen him. He just set there and worked the crowd. Every girl got a smile and I swear he was winking at each of them. I love my frog bathrobe

Jackson loves bath time! He will lay there completely relaxed and stare at himself in the mirror. After his bath he always gets a massage, and then likes to lay around in his bathrobe. Here is Jackson chilling out with Scott as Scott works on his laptop.

Jackson's First Jeep

A few weeks ago, we took Jackson to see Uncle Jeff in Oregon. We rented a Jeep Wrangler, and because Jackson loved the car so much, we decided he needed his own. This is Jackson's first Jeep. Within seconds of putting him in it, he was turning the steering wheel and honking the horn. Why do I see us buying him a larger version in 16 years. Jackson wants to tell Uncle Jeff that he can borrow his Jeep anytime since Uncle Jeff wants one too!

Since I am a horrible blogger...

So we haven't updated this site in a long time. Kim and Jackson and I have been really busy. But, we do have some good videos to upload of Jackson laughing and being a great kid. I can't believe he is 5 months old already.

Very, very close

So... I guess Kim and I have a blog. We somehow forgot about it the past 4 months. Anyway, the Doctor says the baby is doing well these days. Kim is at full term (37+ weeks), and she could have the baby tomorrow and he would be healthy. He still has not dropped yet, so we don't think he will be early. His due date is February 3, so we will have three winter birthdays. As you can see, she has quite the baby bump theses days.

She is standing in the baby's room, which has a zoo theme. A lot of our friends and family have helped to decorate it with pictures, stuffed animals, blankets and other items. My mom even made pillows out of the window sham. Thanks again for all of your help!

Here are the pictures of the house we bought. It should be a fun place to live, but the backyard needs a little landscaping. Mom, I think we need your eye for landscaping design.

It's a Boy!!!

So a lot has happened for Kim and me since the last time we posted. First and foremost, we found out that "Lil T" is a boy last night. We went to have the ultrasound done after work at 6:15, and fortunately the baby is the right size, has all the body parts he is supposed to have in all of the right places, and is completely healthy at this point. He is even in the right place in the uterus, whatever that means. Kim has determined that the "right place in the uterus" means that he is sitting on top of her bladder and back muscles. Speaking of Kim, she is doing much better now that she is in her second trimester. Instead of getting sick twice a day, she is only getting sick once a week, and she has much more energy. Her belly is also getting bigger, as you should be able to tell in this picture.



That picture is from Red Rocks. Tom and Bill came into town to see Ratdog and the Allman Brothers on Labor Day weekend. we had a lot of fun. . .






. . .Well, except maybe for Tom. He has an aversion to hippies, as you can tell from this picture.





Anyway, the ultra sound pictures are below. If you look closely, you can see feet, arms, legs, and, of course, his manparts. Also, Kim and I are in the process of buying a house. We are living in the Nebraska part of Colorado, in Parker. We will post the pictures of the new place in the next post.

Kickin' it, old school

Last night at the Willie Nelson concert, I felt the baby kick for the first time. Kim has been feeling the baby move for the last several weeks, but I never felt the baby move until we were at Red Rocks. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Red Rocks is an amazing concert venue set in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near Morrison, Colorado. It is called "Red Rocks" for really obvious reasons, but is is a really neat place that was "once listed as among the Seven Wonders of the World." So that was a pretty cool experience to feel the baby move for the first time there.

Anyway, I don't remember what song was playing when the baby started kicking, but knowing Kim, it was probably "Whiskey River." (Just kidding!)

Busy, busy, busy

Recently, Kim's brother, Jeff, has complained about us not updating this blog. While it has been 17 days, we have been awfully busy. That, and Jeff is unemployed this summer. What sort of 25 year-old gets a summer vacation without a job? Oh wait.. I had a summer vacation last year. Scratch that. Anyway, between starting a new job, trying to find a house, and all the craziness that goes into Kim's management job, we have had our hands full lately. Finding a house in Denver is not an easy task, as we trying to balance size, distance from work, cost, age of the home, and Kim's opinions about Denver neighborhoods. Some common phrases that she has used include "this place is ghetto," "Eww... There is money lending store down the street," and "this is a corner lot, let's buy it so Jeff never visits."

On the baby front, Kim and I went to meet our obstetrician last week. He is a friendly guy who says that all the things that Kim has been experiencing are relatively normal. He also is really into breast feeding. Apparently breast feeding is very, very important. I am not really sure how you train for that, but I probably won't be too involved. Kim has been staying up later at night (hello, 9:00 PM!!) and isn't getting sick as often. Also, we heard the baby's heartbeat, and he or she is healthy. We don't find out the sex until September 12, 2008, so we have been trying to come up with different names. Kim likes presidential names (Madison, Jefferson, Lincoln, Gerald Ford) and I like boring white guy names (Steve, Jim, Mike, Will) and boring white girl names (Jenn, Julie, Liz). It is still fun to discuss, and when Jean Luc D'Andre Julio Martinez Turner is born, everyone will be happy. Tonight, Kim and I are going to see Willie Nelson at Red Rocks for a break from our busy lives. There's a name for you: Willie Nelson Turner.

Kim and Scott are pregnant and lazy

Kim and I found out that Kim was pregnant the weekend after Memorial Day in May. We went to Austin to decompress after my graduation from Colorado Law School, and decided to tube the Guadalupe River. We left early in the morning and drove down to the local Valero to purchase supplies for tubing. After being turned away for attempting to buy a six-pack of Lonestar with a *gasp* Colorado driver's license, we knew it would be an interesting day. We went across the street, got our supplies, and hit the river. Kim "had a feeling" that she might be pregnant, so she avoided the Lonestar. After a relaxing float, we left the River and headed to Rudy's Truck Stop and Bar-B-Q for lunch. When we got back in the car, Kim checked her voicemail, and the lab tech told her that she was "definately pregnant." We celebrated Texas style with brisket and iced tea, and drove on to San Antonio to visit the nephews. I think we were both nervous, anxious, and, most of all, really excited to start a family. We also figured that we had a lot to accomplish before the baby arrives. To make a long story short, we are lazy and don't want to send all of our individual friends updates. In that spirit of laziness, Kim and I have decided to start a blog to express our thoughts and opinions as the baby approaches. Stay tuned.
